What To Expect When You Visit

We’re so glad that you’re headed over to see us! We thought it might be helpful to take you along on a little adventure to Mildred & Dildred so you know just what to expect when you come in for the first time… or the 100th time!

Where we’re located: 1725 N Swan in Tucson, AZ! We are close to the intersection of Swan and Pima, on Swan Rd. to the northwest side of the intersection. The toy store is painted bright turquoise blue and we have a little red roof. We’re across the street from St. Cyril’s!

Parking: We have a little parking lot in the front of our building, but we have a spacious and quiet parking lot in the back! You an access the back of our building by finding the driveway to the south of the front parking lot.

When you come in, one of us will come say hi! All of our staff wear brown aprons, and we’re happy to see you. We’ll ask if there’s anything we can help you find or if you need suggestions. Of course we encourage you to explore and play when you come in as well!

Here’s a map of where things are generally located in the store… sometimes we move things around but for the most part things are kept in the same general area.

While you’re looking around, we’ll come and check on you to see if you’re still finding everything okay. If we notice you have started collecting items you’re interested in purchasing, we’ll ask if you want to start a pile behind the counter so you don’t have to carry things in your arms.

Feel free to edit this pile as you go! We put a little card on top of these piles that says “Still Shopping” so that all of the staff members can keep these items separate from other customers.

Psst… Grown ups! If you’re trying to stealthily shop for someone you’re visiting with, we can make your pile a secret… just let us know ;)

We also have shopping baskets on the floor by each entrance if that’s more convenient to your shopping/browsing style!

We have a restroom that’s here for customers who need it! We keep the door locked, just come up to the front counter for the key. We have a changing table in there as well!

(Our building is on the older side and our pipes are sensitive, so we ask that everyone only flush toilet paper and use the garbage can for anything else… we really appreciate it!)

Ready to check out? Bring your items up to the front counter and we’ll scan each one or type in a code. The front counter is also where we keep greeting cards and little enclosure cards, so you can grab one there if you need it!

This is also where we can sell you a Mil Dil Gift Card for any amount… when you purchase one in the store, we will give you a physical card.

If you need us to ship your items somewhere, we can also help you with that task when we ring you up! We charge for shipping based on weight and destination, and we’ll have you help us fill out a form so we get all the information just right.

For payment, we accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Debit, Checks (with a state ID), our own Mil Dil Gift Cards (digital or physical cards), and any gift cards with a Visa logo. We can take contactless payments like Apple Pay and Google Pay as well!

Can we gift wrap it? We’re always happy to wrap items you purchase—this service is free! We will start wrapping your items after we finish ringing you up just so that staff members can keep track of everything and that you get the right items back.

We can wrap any of your items by using one of these three methods:

• We’ll wrap in our brown craft paper and tie a bow with colorful ribbon. We tie a round paper tag into the bow that has a cute illustration on it (made by a current or former staff member!). The employee who is wrapping will either choose the colors for you or ask if you have color preferences. It’s okay to tell us you have a preference even if we don’t ask first! We generally don’t use boxes for things that don’t already come in a package, so if we’re wrapping a teddy bear, the shape will be soft. 
• We can also make a gift bag if you would prefer! We use our brown craft paper handle bags and blue tissue paper with a colorful ribbon bow tied on.
• For tiny items like gift cards for example, we use brown craft paper boxes which we tie with colorful ribbon and add a round paper tag into the bow!

Well, that sums up a visit to our little toy store! We want to do our best to make sure everyone has a fun time when they come in, so please ask questions if you think of anything.
